The Priestess Tarot card
Having mastered the manifestation skills of the Magus, it’s important to remember that spiritually you can only give or create as much as you receive. In this sense, the Magus and the Priestess are just one of the pairings in the Tarot that illustrate the importance of balancing and integrating the divine masculine (doing and forming) and the divine feminine (being and inspiring) within you.
The Priestess holds the key to a neverending source of spiritual energy and wisdom which can only be accessed by taking time out from the world to go within and reconnect to your divine spark.

I watched a horrifyingly stark documentary on Sky News recently called “Born Bankrupt”. This half hour programme investigated the level of the nation’s debt and its burden on future generations. The presenter, Jeff Randall, pulled no punches as he explained how children born today will have to shoulder the burden of re-paying the nation’s debt, while their parents and grandparents (of which I am one) enjoy the benefits.

The Magus Tarot card
This lesson on the soul journey is all about recognising your own skills and abilities, and being able to use them to manifest things in reality. Spiritually, the Magus asks you to understand that you are actively co-creating with the universe all the time; the power of your thoughts and the focus of your will determine what happens around you. You have all the elements necessary to achieve anything at your fingertips, you just need to be clear in your intention as you use those elements.

In this category of my blog I want to look at the spiritual meaning of Tarot cards, specifically the major arcana of my favourite deck, the Thoth. I believe that these 22 tarot cards are a spiritual development guide in pictures, pointing out the major spiritual lessons that a soul has to learn on its journey towards enlightenment.
When dogmatic Christianity became all-powerful, ancient esoteric wisdom could no longer be spoken of or taught openly, and so this wisdom was encoded into symbolic images. I believe cards were chosen as the medium because card games were very popular and common at the time, and at first glance this set of images would look like nothing more than a harmless game to dictatorial eyes.
