Once you have learned to work with love and your intuition, it’s important to know how to create something practical and effective with them, how to build something real and lasting in the world as this is one of the cards that represents the sacred masculine. The Emperor is the form and action to the Empress‘ inspiration and raw potential.

Discipline is vital to a healthy spiritual life, setting time aside for regular meditation or exercise for example, and so now you must learn to set certain boundaries and structures for yourself within which you can attain your highest potential.

I’ve always loved fairy tales and could sense in them, even at an early age, a kind of innate magic and significance, but I don’t think it was until my university days that I realised the depth of their wisdom.

I chose to study Old French as one of my English literature options (don’t worry, this isn’t going to get too cerebral!) and one of the authors I read was Marie de France and her wonderful 12th century lais – short but vivid narrative poems about knights, maidens and adventure.

The Empress Tarot card

Armed with the wisdom and the limitless spiritual resources learned from the Priestess, you are ready to extend unconditional love and compassion to all living beings around you as the Great Mother. You can “be” love, the greatest gift of Spirit, as this is one of the cards that represents the sacred feminine.

There are several aspects to this giving of love. The one that is most often forgotten, particularly by women, is to include yourself.

A General Tarot Spread for Psychic Readings

Here is the general Tarot spread that I use to open readings with my clients. Although I respect the traditional Celtic Cross spread and know many people use it with great success, I never really felt comfortable working with it so I designed this one.

I find it gives me a good overall impression of what’s going with the client and where they are physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. It shows me the potential for the next twelve months and highlights any problem areas that may need addressing.
