Who you are; a poem

Posted by on Apr 6, 2023 in Healing, Poetry, Spiritual living, Uncategorized | Comments Off on Who you are; a poem

Awakening by Marco Braun I wrote Who you are on April 5th 2023 – the eve of the full moon in Libra. I wasn’t conscious while writing of how appropriate it was for that particular moon and the astrology surrounding it, but I’m never surprised by where my inner knowing takes me. The Sun conjunct Chiron opposite that moon offered potent healing energy for the kind of wounding described here, common to many. The experience itself happened many years ago, but its vivid memory sustains me still. It’s a poem for any time, and...

Guidance for March/April 2023: It’s all about give and take

Posted by on Mar 18, 2023 in Spiritual living, Tarot, Uncategorized | Comments Off on Guidance for March/April 2023: It’s all about give and take

Here’s my guidance for March/April 2023, covering the month beginning with the new moon in Aries on March 21st (in the UK). The Thoth Tarot suggests we engage with the energy of the Six of Disks this lunar month. The subtitle is immediately uplifting, indicating successful new developments and feelings of abundance, enjoyment and growth. I find it so interesting that with the Spring Equinox only yesterday reminding us of balance, so does this card. It suggests that these practical, positive results come about through aligning forces in...

The dance of equilibrium; living a balanced life

Posted by on Mar 1, 2023 in Spiritual living, Tarot, Uncategorized | Comments Off on The dance of equilibrium; living a balanced life

Tightrope walker by Wilhelm Simmler It’s often talked about fairly glibly as a good thing, but how do you go about living a balanced life? A dear and wise friend, whom I respect deeply, recently called me a master of balance, which was very lovely to hear. She noticed that I always balanced the demands of intense professional work with “play” time just for myself. It reminded me of another conversation in which a fellow healer observed that I was better than any other therapist she knew at matching the healing and holding...

Guidance for February 2023 – Power up and do it

Posted by on Feb 18, 2023 in Spiritual living, Tarot, Uncategorized | Comments Off on Guidance for February 2023 – Power up and do it

Here’s my guidance for February 2023, including a one card Thoth Tarot reading and a brief overview of the month’s astrology. The Thoth Tarot presents us with the energy of the Two of Wands to work with this month, urging us to act with the full force of our enthusiasm and inspiration. This month gifts you with clarity on what you want and the courage to risk moving towards it. On a personal level, this means building total confidence in and acceptance of yourself so you can focus all your will on going for it. At this point, know...

Peace with yourself creates peace with others – reading for 2023

Posted by on Jan 9, 2023 in Uncategorized | Comments Off on Peace with yourself creates peace with others – reading for 2023

As I prepared to pull this Thoth Tarot theme card for this reading for 2023, I saw in my inner eye the image of a bright flame burning in the darkness. It flickered and was pushed and pulled in different directions at times by the currents of air around it, but it always returned to a steady centre and it was never extinguished. As I continued to watch, many similar flames sprang up all around it to enlighten the darkness with warmth and radiance, and my heart was filled with a sense of loving connection and active hope. The first thing I...

The moon mantle and the swan; messages from the symbolic inner world

Posted by on Nov 19, 2022 in Healing, Spiritual living, Uncategorized | Comments Off on The moon mantle and the swan; messages from the symbolic inner world

“Breathing” by Alonsa Guevara I thought I’d give you a glimpse into my highly symbolic inner world, where all events and occurrences are intricately connected and full of meaningful patterns. This is the way I live my life and I wouldn’t want it any other way; attribute it to my Sagittarius ascendant and twelfth house in Scorpio if you will. It’s actually the way our ancestors lived too, seeing the Otherworld as very much present and relevant within everyday physical reality. So without more ado I give you the...

Astrology as a key to understanding your inner and outer experience

Posted by on Nov 4, 2022 in Spiritual living, Uncategorized | Comments Off on Astrology as a key to understanding your inner and outer experience

I love astrology, because it operates as a very sharply-cut key to understanding your inner and outer experience of life. The symbols of the planets, signs, and houses in my birth chart show me the underlying archetypal patterns that run through all of my experience. That’s why it’s so helpful to pay attention to what’s happening astrologically within my own chart. It points me to the areas being highlighted for personal attention and work at any given time, so I can continue more easily and effectively with the process of...

Cry me a river; cleansing the pollution of water

Posted by on Oct 16, 2022 in Healing, Spiritual living | Comments Off on Cry me a river; cleansing the pollution of water

Rivers and all water was sacred to the Celts. They knew water was the source of all life, so it was closely associated with the goddess, birth, and the gateway to the Otherworld. It was appropriately honoured and appreciated as such. The current mass pollution of water happening worldwide couldn’t be further away from this natural philosophy. In the ancient Welsh story How Culhwch Won Olwen, the salmon (specifically the Salmon of Lyn Llyw) was sought out for advice on a vital quest because it was known as the oldest and wisest of all...

Reweaving the basket; a poem

Posted by on Sep 29, 2022 in Poetry, Uncategorized | Comments Off on Reweaving the basket; a poem

I was inspired to write this poem after reading Ursula Le Guin’s wonderful article, “The Carrier Bag Theory of Fiction”, and imagining a return to harmony with the earth and her natural cycles. So here is Reweaving the basket: “Never put all your eggs in one basket,” so they say,But the Goddess knew what she was doing whenShe placed us carefully into the wide woven bowlThat rested on her swelling belly. “How beautiful,” she crooned as she arrangedForests and foxes, rivers and reptiles,In riotous...

Effective spirituality: being an active agent

Posted by on Sep 15, 2022 in Spiritual living, Uncategorized | Comments Off on Effective spirituality: being an active agent

I’ve been dwelling a lot recently on the question of how to bring spiritual values and ethics back into the material infrastructure of a world gone mad with greed and lust for individual gain. While I feel the measurable impact of the energy and vibration work done by all spiritual workers, I find myself longing for a more effective spirituality. How do we make soulfulness more active in shaping the new earth we choose to co-create? How do we emerge from the fringes and claim an influential place at the centre of things? We have to find...
