Two of Wands from the Thoth Tarot

Here’s my guidance for February 2023, including a one card Thoth Tarot reading and a brief overview of the month’s astrology. The Thoth Tarot presents us with the energy of the Two of Wands to work with this month, urging us to act with the full force of our enthusiasm and inspiration. This month gifts you with clarity on what you want and the courage to risk moving towards it. On a personal level, this means building total confidence in and acceptance of yourself so you can focus all your will on going for it. At this point, know that where you’ll end up doesn’t matter; now is just about deciding on and taking the first step. So whatever it is you’re fired up about, it’s time to do it.

Once the inspiration has grabbed you, then the number two invites you to include at least one other in your endeavour. In particular, have conversations and engage with others who share your feelings and values. When two people come together in balance and harmony then what results far exceeds the sum of the two individuals combined. There is strength and power in numbers, and seeming opposites when they team up can alchemise amazing innovations.

The negative aspect of this card, and the opposite of the collaboration I refer to above, is using power destructively – Mars in Aries energy can be warlike and intent on domination. So don’t be surprised if someone in your life acts this out or you see it reflected in global events. If you find yourself on the receiving end of this kind of power dynamic, remember to trust yourself and stay centred so you’re not thrown off balance. You can more than hold your own.

As with anything new, there is inevitably an element of energy present that is necessary to dismantle the old. Know that it’s not destruction, it’s renewal.

Astrologically it’s a new moon in Pisces (20th February at 7.06am in the UK). A Saturn conjunction contributes some realism and structure to the dreams and goals you engender with this new moon, so you may need to accept some practical limitations. But otherwise, if you’re genuinely motivated by love, unity, and spiritual values, then you can win support and favour for your ideas. So make the most of this energy to forge plans and developments in the next couple of weeks.

Take more care around the Pisces full moon on the 7th when things are a little unpredictable, and you could well see a clearing out of long-secure but outworn structures on many levels. Understand that survival now depends on recognising the interdependence of all living beings and then let your imagination carry you through and on.
