Here’s my spiritual guidance September/October 2026, covering the lunar month beginning with the Virgo new moon on September 11th at 4.27am (UK) through to October 9th. Every new lunar month I draw one card from the Thoth Tarot to spark intuitive insight about the key energy to navigate by during the coming four weeks. I then take a quick look at the astrology.
Spiritual guidance September/October 2026 inspired by the Tarot
My first thought when I pulled The Tower for the next four weeks was, “Again! Everyone must be getting fed up of seeing this…” So I checked back to see how often it had appeared, and discovered it had only shown up once over the past twelve months. Clearly, then, it has been an undercurrent I’ve been sensing throughout this time, even if the card itself hasn’t presented itself.
If you prefer to listen, play the video. Otherwise, read on.
At its core, The Tower points to the collapse of stagnant structures and sudden breakthroughs which may initially appear chaotic. That’s because this is the energy of the divine, or of nature, shaking loose the false rigidity of anything man-made. It brings abrupt endings which, ultimately, clear the path to liberation. The Tower insists that you can no longer cling to restrictions or limitations that prevent you from expressing yourself fully and freely.
The August solar and lunar eclipses were incredibly illuminating for me, and I suspect for many others too. It felt as though a door had finally opened into a room I’d previously been unable to enter. So this month is all about letting go: letting go of outgrown habits, jobs, relationships, and anything else that feels like a garment that’s become too tight to allow you to move freely.
It’s also about letting go of control. The thing about The Tower is that its energy has often been present for some time. If you’ve noticed it and accepted what it’s asking of you, you’ll be able to choose the necessary changes and get on with recreating your life in a way that feels authentic. If you’ve been ignoring the warning signs, The Tower may do the demolishing for you, and the shock can be much harder to handle.
You cannot stop this transformation. The sooner you surrender to it, the easier it will be. So try to welcome the unexpected news or events of the next few weeks. However unsettling they may initially feel, they may be pointing towards a truth that ultimately sets you free.
Ask yourself honestly: What area of my life feels most unstable right now – career, love, relationships, or personal growth? Am I resisting a change that I already know needs to happen? As you can see, this is not a month for a “same old” approach to anything. It’s time to break the mold.
Question whether your beliefs are still valid at this point in your life. Do they still work for you? Do they help or hinder you? Is it time to adjust, evolve, or perhaps let some of them go completely?
And then there’s your body. How does it feel to live inside it right now? Is energy flowing freely, with a sense of vitality and aliveness, or do you feel tired and depleted? Is there tension and contraction in your muscles or skeleton?
Often, the body tells us where energy has become trapped or blocked. Any kind of bodywork or movement can help to get things flowing again. Tai Chi, yoga, massage, free dance, or perhaps something you’ve never tried before. This is a particularly good month to experiment with a new way of inhabiting your body.
Perhaps there are emotions you habitually suppress, or judge as unacceptable. So you never have those important conversations about your needs, boundaries, or desires. Instead, your creative life force gradually diminishes, becoming more and more strangled and stifled.
Find a safe way to allow those emotions to move. You don’t necessarily have to act on them. A good place to begin is simply acknowledging them and allowing yourself to feel what is there. Healing emotions and feelings may help if you’d like to explore this further.
And whatever it is that crumbles, resist the temptation to rebuild it exactly as it was. You’ll only end up back in the Tower. Instead, use the cleared ground as a blank canvas and create something genuinely new. The call is towards evolution, growth, and transformation rather than another set of rigid structures. Think outside the box. Imagine what might be possible if you weren’t trying to recreate what you’ve already known.
The Tower can also bring sudden, earth-shattering insights — flashes of inspiration, understanding, or knowledge arriving through the soul. So even if you don’t currently feel that anything needs to change, you may see things very differently by the end of this lunar month.
I imagine we’ll see similar developments in the world around us. Long-maintained structures of all kinds may begin to topple, revealing just how unstable they’ve been beneath the surface for some time. The Tower can also speak literally of the earth shaking the ground, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see further natural disasters, particularly earthquakes or volcanic eruptions, during this period. And yes, it can also indicate war and destruction; the terrible consequences of human ego running unchecked.
But from the perspective of the soul, the process The Tower initiates is one of healing, renovation, and renewal. I won’t pretend that this makes the challenges it brings any less real or painful in our everyday experience.
But stagnation is death. Change and growth are life. And that, ultimately, is what this month is asking of us. Choose life. Choose it with courage. With imagination. With an open heart. And choose it with your whole soul, in alignment with divine and natural law.
Guidance September/October from astrology
The Virgo new moon on 11th September favours blue-sky thinking and innovation. For any system to function healthily, it must be built on inspiring ideals and powered by the right energy – with social justice at its heart.
Three days after the Autumn Equinox on 23rd September, the Aries full moon and Mars in Cancer both highlight Neptune in Aries. Dreamers are inspired to explore their imaginations, but without losing sight of reality. Discriminate between what is simply enchanting and what is genuinely useful, and there is enormous creative potential here.
Mars moves into Leo on 28th September, bringing the possibility of results worth celebrating as change accelerates, with endings and new beginnings following one another rapidly. Resistance is likely, however, particularly to the speed and scale of whatever is being transformed.
On 7th October, Venus and Mercury meet in Scorpio during a Mars–Pluto opposition, suggesting a tense period of confrontation. Deep-seated doubts and resentments may surface, challenging old assumptions and exposing perceived abuses of power. Honest negotiation will be needed to find a way forward.
