Here’s my spiritual guidance August/September 2026, covering the lunar month beginning with the Leo new moon on August 12th at 6.46pm (UK) through to September 10th. Every new lunar month I draw one card from the Thoth Tarot to spark intuitive insight about the key energy to navigate by during the coming four weeks. I then take a quick look at the astrology.
Spiritual guidance August/September 2026 inspired by the Tarot
The Knight of Swords suggests a mentally active month where ideas, communication, learning, understanding, and planning all come to the fore.

At its best, the Gemini-influenced energy of this card brings clarity, determination, and the ability to make decisions rooted in spiritual wisdom rather than cold logic alone. At its worst, it can become the relentless pursuit of an idea or goal with little feeling for anyone else, or even any basis in reality.
So this month, it’s especially important to stay grounded, compassionate, and deeply connected to your intuition, allowing your heart and soul to guide your mind rather than the other way around.
On a personal level, the next four weeks offer a wonderful opportunity to make thoughtful plans for the future. Consider not only what you want to achieve, but how you want to feel as you move towards it. Anchor every goal in the living experience of your body. How will achieving it enrich your life? How might it benefit those around you?
It’s so easy to become captivated by an idea that sounds clever in theory but makes little sense when translated into everyday life. In my opinion, many poor social and political decisions have been made in exactly this way. Always bring your ideas back down to the human level and ask yourself what it would actually feel like to live with the consequences.
If there’s a decision or problem you’ve been wrestling with for some time, you may finally be able to find clarity this month. Try this simple practice.
Sit quietly and take three slow, deep breaths, breathing in through your nose and out through your mouth. Feel the weight of your body resting in the chair and the steady support of the floor beneath your feet.
Now bring your awareness to your heart centre in the middle of your chest. Imagine it softening and opening with each breath, filling with warmth and light.
Gently bring to mind the situation you’re grappling with or the decision that lies before you. Resist the temptation to solve it immediately. Simply allow it to rest in your awareness while your breathing remains slow and easy.
When you feel ready, explore each possible option, one at a time. Hold it gently in your imagination and notice how your body responds.
Do you soften and relax? Do you feel warmth, spaciousness, or a quiet sense of peace? Your body may be signalling “yes.” Or do you notice tension, contraction, or rising anxiety? That may be your answer too. Perhaps something entirely unexpected appears instead; a possibility you hadn’t even considered.
Simply notice whatever arises without rushing to a conclusion. Let your insights settle for a while before making any important decisions.
The Knight of Swords can also represent the wise advisor. Someone intelligent, objective, and experienced whose knowledge helps cut through confusion. This makes it an excellent month to seek guidance where it’s needed. Speak to the financial adviser, counsellor, mentor, or life coach whose experience can illuminate the path ahead. If there’s a difficult conversation to be had, the presence of a skilled mediator may help everyone feel heard with greater calm and understanding.
For me, this card nearly always signals an excellent time for writing. Whether you’re journalling to untangle your thoughts, drafting the synopsis of a novel, completing a long-held manuscript, creating a course, or simply giving shape to ideas that have been waiting patiently in the wings, these four weeks support clear thinking, sustained focus, and rapid progress.
On the wider world stage, we may see remarkable breakthroughs – or significant disruption – in areas such as social justice, equality, transport, communication, education, technology, and the media. Much depends on how the Knight’s energy is expressed. Used wisely, it inspires innovation and progress. Left unchecked, it can become combative, divisive, and driven more by ideology than genuine care. Those who pursue power for personal ambition rather than the well-being of the people they serve are likely to continue revealing that pattern.
For those of us choosing to live from the soul, however, this month offers a different invitation. Bring together a clear mind and a compassionate heart. Think deeply. Listen carefully. Speak truthfully. When your words arise from genuine wisdom and kindness, others recognise them. Family, friends, colleagues, and communities naturally respond to authenticity because they can feel the integrity behind it.
And that’s one of the greatest forms of leadership there is: not the loudest voice in the room, but the one that unites clear thinking with an open heart.
Guidance August/September from astrology
The Leo new moon on 12th August is followed just minutes later by a total solar eclipse, opening a powerful gateway for change that remains active until the lunar eclipse on 28th August. Events may force us to recognise what is no longer sustainable, revealing the need for stronger foundations built on new ideals of unity and love (Venus in Libra), while remaining firmly rooted in practical reality (Saturn in Aries).
What once seemed strange or visionary may begin to feel increasingly possible. Individuals, guided by their deepest values, are helping to shape a new order. Saturn continues to ask us to face obstacles honestly, learning from what has failed while patiently building the structures needed to support what is emerging.
On 10th September, Mercury enters Libra, Venus moves into Scorpio, and Uranus turns retrograde. Growing discontent around perceived unfairness or imbalance may now demand a rethink. Whatever comes to light is asking to be acknowledged, understood, and woven into the path ahead.
