The soul journey through the Thoth tarot cards: The Magus

Posted on Jul 30, 2012 in Tarot

Continuing my journey through the spiritual development meaning of Tarot cards, specifically the major arcana of the Thoth deck, we reach number 1…..

The Magus Thoth Tarot cardThe Magus Tarot card

This lesson on the soul journey is all about recognising your own skills and abilities, and being able to use them to manifest things in reality. Spiritually, the Magus asks you to understand that you are actively co-creating with the universe all the time; the power of your thoughts and the focus of your will determine what happens around you. You have all the elements necessary to achieve anything at your fingertips, you just need to be clear in your intention as you use those elements.

The soul journey through the Thoth tarot cards: The Fool

Posted on Jul 6, 2012 in Tarot

In this category of my blog I want to look at the spiritual meaning of Tarot cards, specifically the major arcana of my favourite deck, the Thoth. I believe that these 22 tarot cards are a spiritual development guide in pictures, pointing out the major spiritual lessons that a soul has to learn on its journey towards enlightenment.

When dogmatic Christianity became all-powerful, ancient esoteric wisdom could no longer be spoken of or taught openly, and so this wisdom was encoded into symbolic images. I believe cards were chosen as the medium because card games were very popular and common at the time, and at first glance this set of images would look like nothing more than a harmless game to dictatorial eyes.

Connecting to the higher self – reading for 2012

Posted on Jan 2, 2012 in Spiritual living, Tarot

I can’t believe we have finally reached the long-awaited 2012, and I look forward to the new order and hope that this year promises, where the spiritual values of love, compassion and unity are at the heart of all life on this planet.

The card drawn from my Thoth deck to guide us in 2012 is The Hanged Man. Suitably we have a major arcana card for this great year, which means that there are important spiritual lessons to be learned and applied by all of us – this will be a year of spiritual evolution. It also means that there are strong spiritual energies at work in all our lives and so at times it may feel as if things are out of our control.

Letting go to flow

Posted on Feb 2, 2011 in Spiritual living, Tarot

Hanged Man card from the Thoth deckI know that it’s time for change and I welcome it openly, but I’m realising how difficult it can be to allow that change to happen (even when you want it) for all sorts of reasons; fear of the unknown, material and personal insecurity, lack of self-confidence, distrust. I wouldn’t say I’m a control freak – a quick check with the boyfriend confirms I’m not, thank you George – but I know I can still benefit from loosening my hold on how I want things to become, and strengthening my ability to just allow things to be, perfectly.

A life that is free – reading for 2011

Posted on Jan 4, 2011 in Spiritual living, Tarot

The card drawn from my Thoth deck to guide us in 2011 is the ten of wands, and immediately I’m aware that we have moved from a nine in the 2010 reading to the number ten; completing a cycle. The card has a bright orange background against which are set eight criss-crossed wands, dominated by two much larger black wands standing upright in front of them as if to bar the way.

Given the current political and economic situation, the subtitle of this card “Oppression”  seems particularly apt but it is not a card of doom and resignation.
