Do you need repotting?

Posted on Jul 16, 2015 in Spiritual living

Butterfly plantIf you’ve been following my Facebook page you’ll know that recently my life has been dominated by something rather different from my usual activity – painting and decorating (and even assembling furniture). All my life I have thought of myself as not capable in that way, and so have avoided doing it where possible.

Faced with a deadline and the excellent motivation of wanting to sell our house, I threw myself into the manual work with total abandon and dedication. And what do you know? I found that not only was I rather good at it (my “cutting in” where two colours met and my edges received praise from a professional no less!) but I also really enjoyed it.

Do we create or is it fate?

Fate by Alphonse Mucha

Fate by Alphonse Mucha

During a recent reading, when the Fortune Tarot card had appeared, I was asked by my client, “If we’re supposed to be the creators of all our experience, where does fate fit in?”

It’s a good question, and one which I’ve been asked many times in different ways. Most people see fate or destiny as something apart from and external to themselves, and it’s often been personified as a god or goddess with a rather fickle and temperamental nature.

Rider Waite Strength cardHow can you bring love and light to situations involving injustice, abuse or disrespect without being a doormat? Does being spiritual mean that you allow people to do exactly what they want, even if that results in you or others getting hurt?

It’s a subject that has come up often recently in my client sessions, and I’ve noticed it in many Facebook posts too. It’s a misunderstanding that often gets applied to spirituality; that it somehow means we have to be weak and “fluffy bunnies” who drift through life vaguely, seeing the best in everyone and conveniently ignoring anything that doesn’t sit comfortably within a rosy-glassed view.

Listening; a key to soulful living

Posted on Apr 27, 2015 in Spiritual living

Listening for soulful livingOur ears are bombarded with different sounds all the time, 24 hours a day if we live in the centre of a big city. With all the hearing that goes on, you’d think we’d be good at listening but it’s not true. The truth is, the profusion of sound in our lives hasn’t made us better at listening, it’s created expert non-hearers! Just think about how effectively you can screen out “noise” you don’t want to be bothered by at certain times.

The art of self-appreciation

Posted on Apr 14, 2015 in Healing, Spiritual living

Self-appreciationFor many of my clients, one of the most stubborn obstacles to healing, spiritual development, healthy relationships, and attaining higher consciousness is a lack of appreciation and love for oneself. What I’ve learned beyond a doubt is that the heart – an open, unrestricted and giving heart – is the key to everything. Love is the universal language that speaks to every problem and blasts every door wide open.
